WHAT IS A BLIND FLANGE USED FOR?
Blinds flanges block off a section of pipe or a nozzle on a vessel that is not used. Blind flanges are essential components for sealing pipelines, ideal for temporary blocking or hydrostatic testing. Available for rent at Hydro Blind Solutions, these durable flanges come in various sizes and types, ensuring a cost-effective solution for projects requiring reliable isolation and flow control in industrial applications. Renting offers added convenience with flexible options, including delivery services, and helps avoid storage issues after the project is complete. It’s also a practical choice for short-term or specialized needs where purchasing may not be necessary.
Blind flanges are available in a wide range of sizes, typically from 1/2" up to 60" or more, depending on the application. Sizing should match your pipeline's flange dimensions and pressure rating.
The choice between Series A or Series B blind flanges is based on the flange dimensions defined by ASME B16.47. Series A paddle blinds have a larger outside diameter and greater thickness. Series B blind flanges have a smaller outside diameter and are thinner, making them lighter and more compact.
warning Important: Series A and Series B are not interchangeable. Always check your piping specifications or flange drawings to ensure you select the correct series for your application.
At Hydro Blind Solutions, we provide both carbon steel and stainless steel blind flanges, each designed to meet specific performance demands. While both a quality blind flange materials, the key difference lies in their chemical makeup, which directly impacts durability, strength, and resistance to challenging environments. Whether your project calls for the rugged strength of carbon steel or the long-lasting protection of stainless steel, Hydro Blind Solutions delivers the right flange to keep your operations running safely and efficiently.
Carbon steel blind flanges are engineered with iron, carbon, and trace elements like manganese and silicon, these flanges balance strength, hardness, and flexibility. With carbon content ranging from 0.05% to 2.0%, they deliver the mechanical toughness required for heavy-duty pipeline applications. Stainless steel flanges are formulated with at least 10.5% chromium and often alloyed with nickel and molybdenum, stainless steel flanges are built for superior corrosion resistance. The chromium creates a protective oxide layer, while nickel and molybdenum improve resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and high-temperature exposure—ideal for aggressive or corrosive environments.
