WHAT IS A FIGURE 8 BLIND USED FOR?
A figure 8 blind is installed in the line between two pipe flanges and bolted in place. These blinds consist of two metal discs, connected by a web, that resemble a pair of spectacles (glasses) or the number eight. One disc is solid, while the other has an opening, allowing flow through the system when aligned with the pipe or vessel. Our figure 8 blinds are manufactured from a single machined metal piece, when possible, eliminating the need for separate paddle blinds and spacers during pipe maintenance isolation. The one-piece construction is for safety with less chance of failure from a welded product.

Figure 8 blinds are available in a wide range of sizes, typically from 1/2" up to 60" or more, depending on the application. Sizing should match your pipeline's flange dimensions and pressure rating.
The choice between Series A or Series B paddle blinds is based on the flange dimensions defined by ASME B16.47. Series A paddle blinds have a larger outside diameter and greater thickness. Series B paddle blinds have a smaller outside diameter and are thinner, making them lighter and more compact.
⚠️ Important: Series A and Series B are not interchangeable.
Always check your piping specifications or flange drawings to ensure you select the correct series for your application.
