PIPELINE AND TERMINALS
Pipeline terminals are facilities designed to load, unload, transfer, or store products transported via pipelines, typically located near pumping or compressing stations and product storage facilities. They may also connect to transportation networks such as waterways, railways, or roads for freight handling. Smaller diameter pipelines known as gathering systems directly connect to producers’ wellheads or production facilities. These pipelines transport untreated oil or gas to a central location, where it is treated and processed, if necessary. Produced water is also gathered and often accounts for the largest byproduct stream associated with onshore oil and natural gas production.

WHAT ARE MIDSTREAM BLIND FLANGES USED FOR?
Midstream blind flanges are essential, solid steel discs used to securely seal the ends of pipelines, valves, and pressure vessel openings in oil and gas, petrochemical, and refining applications. They feature no central bore, allowing them to block flow for maintenance, testing, or future expansion while ensuring a leak-proof seal.
In the oil and gas industry, midstream refers to the sector re- sponsible for transporting, storing, and processing raw materials (crude oil and natural gas) from production sites to refineries or distribution centers. It acts as the vital link between upstream (exploration/production) and downstream (refining/marketing) segments, utilizing pipelines, rail, trucks, and tankers.
Upstream, midstream, and downstream are the three primary sectors of the oil and gas industry, representing the full supply chain from ex- traction to the end consumer. Upstream, also known as exploration and production, focuses on locating and extracting raw materials through geological surveys, drilling wells, and operating rigs, and is typically the most high-risk and volatile segment. Midstream serves as the bridge of the industry, handling the transportation, storage, and marketing of crude oil and natural gas through pipelines, tankers, rail cars, and storage facilities, often operating on more stable, fee-based logistics models. Downstream is the final stage, where raw materials are refined and processed in oil refineries and petrochemical plants into finished products such as gasoline, diesel, and other petrochemicals, which are then distributed to market based on consumer demand
