How a Figure 8 Blind Works
Figure 8 blinds feature two sides. The first is a solid plate that is similar to a paddle blind. When it’s in place between a set of pipe flanges, it stops all flow within the pipe. This is convenient for hydrostatic testing, maintenance, repairs, and more. The other side of the figure 8 blind is a plate with an opening in the center, similar to a paddle spacer.
With this side in place, full flow is restored to the pipe. The figure 8 blind remains in place on the pipe permanently and is simply flipped to enable or block flow as needed. It eliminates the inconvenience of finding the correct blind or spacer for the application, and it allows for faster maintenance or repair operations.
